Paratransit Services

Getting to school should be easy for everyone. If you have a disability that prevents you from using the fixed-route bus and Trolley system, you may be eligible for paratransit from either our district or MTS. Please keep in mind that CaverMetro is a student organization and NOT a transportation provider, nor can we fill out or process paratransit applications. However, if you need additional support with the application process, please reach out to us!

San Diego Unified

San Diego Unified's Transportation department provides paratransit services for students with disabilities who are unable to use the fixed-route bus and Trolley system. SDUSD paratransit requires no additional eligibility and is available to students with transportation clauses in their Individualized Education Program (IEP). To take advantage of this benefit, you'll need to contact your school counselor, who is assigned to you based on grade and last name. You can find a list of counselors here (opens in a new tab).

Student transportation is free but limited and cannot be used for trips other than to and from school. We recommend that all students use the fixed-route bus and Trolley system whenever physically possible.

MTS Access

All MTS (Metropolitan Transit System) bus and Trolley vehicles are equipped with ramps or lifts, in full compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). The ADA also mandates that MTS provide complementary paratransit service to individuals with disabilities who are unable to use the fixed-route system. These trips are provided by MTS Access-branded vehicles.
